How to Get Facebook Likes By Hijacking Trending Topics

On the News: the Period Facebook Rant

Get Facebook likes – this is what most fan pages would want to achieve after weeks and months of setting up a business fan page. But, as online entrepreneurs know, it’s not as easy as setting the page up and filling it with impressive information, unless of course you are willing to buy Facebook likes to complement that.

However, nothing beats the attention-grabbing way this irate man expressed his disappointment on the Facebook fan page of Bodyform Maxi Pads. Where do you think he was coming from? This Richard, he complained about how the sanitary napkin brand was lying all along about the happy disposition women have while on a period using the brand. But reality hits him on the head after he experienced what it was really like to be with a woman with a period.

Below is Richard’s original post on the Bodyform Maxi Pads’ Fan Page.

The post has over 80,000 likes, which means the fan page also got attention. Half of the people find it hilarious while the other half defined it as a staged rant intended to push the brand’s publicity. Which do you think is it?

In a man’s perspective, I think it was all a ruse. A play that was rehearsed to look too real to ever be considered natural in the online advertising world. At first, I doubted that it was fake but when Bodyform created a video in response to the rant, that’s when I truly believe it is to be what it is – a promotional stunt. When you think about it, there is not much different with what they did as when businesses buy Facebook likes or Twitter followers.

Anyway, the least they can do is to offer us little brands a way to hijack their current online notoriety.

2 Ways to Hijack trending Topics

Write your two cents about the trend

What do you think about it? What is your opinion? This should be your focus when hijacking trending topics or even breaking news. All you have to do is get the facts, present them to your readers and tell them what you believe them to be. Are you in favor or are you in opposition? Once you have established that, insert keywords for both your main keyword and the keywords of the trending topic. Share it to social networks and for sure not only will you get Facebook likes but traffic to your website as well.

Write tutorials or tips and utilize name-dropping

For example, How to Steal the Show Like Romney and Increase Twitter Followers. That is a headline that says if you do it like Romney, you will grab the attention of the people as well as boost your follower count on Twitter. Doesn’t this sound familiar? Oh yeah. I’ve written about how Romney bought Twitter followers. Believe me, what I did was news jacking. This is only applicable though when the person concerned is more important than the event in which he/she was involved.

Just look around blogs and you will know what I’m talking about. Why don’t you start doing the same so you can get Facebook likes to either your post or your fan page.

How to Leverage Social Media Shortcuts to Success

There are many social media marketing experts that say, there are no shortcuts to success. Sad to say, they might be right. But what they fail to consider is the goal of the entrepreneur, if you can call them that.

Plans are made out of goals, and in social media, most often people mistake businesses to be after one thing: web presence or online visibility. What if I only want to make a quick buck to support my one true business venture? What if I was only looking for a cash cow? Did they ever think about that? No.

So, if you want to leverage your cash-cow business on social media for faster results, here is how to do it.

1. Take out marketing efforts with the least return.

Try several strategies at once with separate budgets then see which worked and which didn’t. For example are ads on social sites Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. If only one is performing great as expected, immediately scrap the other two. It is better to get rid of the nonworking marketing efforts rather than wait for it to bear fruit. This way you don’t have to waste too much money on an uncertain strategy.

2. Stick to the best performing platforms

There are several social networking sites. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of them but we only knew of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr and Pinterest. Why is that? It’s because they are the few ones that people flock and use. However, just because they are all popular with great traffic, you have to be on each one of them at the same time. If that were so, how would you be able to manage?

Choose two or three that you think best suits your current project or product and pour time, money and effort on them, rather than being everywhere all at once.

3. Get assistance from free tools

If you think you can’t handle all social networks why push it? I didn’t mean that you have to quit, only that you have to use awesome tools that web app developers just give away for free. Take for example is the social monitoring tool like HootSuite or ConvertSocial, Twiends and many others.

4. Cheat if you must in dire times.

If you think the scale is tipped to your side at a disadvantage why wait for it to topple you over? Fight back and cheat if it gives you the edge. For example, if you feel that your competition are buying followers and views then counter that and buy Twitter followers and YouTube views as well. It’s always been that way in the real world what makes cyberspace any different?

5. Single out interested audience and engage.

Most businesses will advise to engage every single follower and fan you have but that is not practical and very misleading. How can one do that? Will you go and mention them in every status and tweet? Of course not, it would take years before you can please them all enough to show interest. What you should do is to focus the wooing on those people who participates in each poll, contest or activity because they need little to none persuasion.

Well, the above-mentioned tips are merely suggestions based on what the author have observed that failing businesses do with their social media efforts. It’s up to you to take my advice or not.

But of course this article has a little pitch, I won’t lie. If you click on this hyperlinked keyword “buy Twitter followers”, it’ll lead you to a page where you can buy followers on Twitter.

Channels to Help Market Your YouTube Music Videos Online

When you think about it, there is only one ultimate go-to channel when it comes to music videos for that matter and that is YouTube.

YouTube has stolen the attention of many online users or the so-called netizens when it comes to watching entertainment. Before, television was our only refuge from the boring times we have left on our hands when we aren’t working or dating (that is), now we have so many websites to choose from. We have social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter and of course YouTube (considered as a social network as well).

But have you noticed how YouTube is turning out to be the home of wannabe-stars? You will see several acts and music covers on the site that it feels like a new MTV or Hollywood arena, where competition is pretty rough and tough.

The only thing you can do (that is if you have music videos on YouTube) is to market your channels online, other than on YouTube.

FORUMS

Other than YouTube, forums can bring in a lot of views for your YouTube music videos, especially on forums focused on music or audio. Forums are usually a segment of an online community that supports a particular idea or practice. In this case, look for one that will likely support your music and your videos. However, don’t always pitch in your video like you are selling it. First, you have to significantly contribute to the community by commenting, answering questions and conversing with other members. Getting their trust is difficult for you to get YouTube views on your music videos. How much more when it comes to encouraging them to subscribe?

BLOGS

You can do it in two ways. One is to create your own video blog or most popularly called as vlogs or have someone post your YouTube videos on their blog for a price. If you are on a tight budget, then scrap the second option. Buying cheap YouTube views is better than that. So that means you have to create your own vlog where you can host your videos for SEO credit. SEO means search engine optimization, which will help your videos get searched quite easily on searches like Google search. Targeting Google search engine would mean you have to sign up for a blogger account.

After creating your blog, be sure to connect with other Bloggers to provide exposure to your YouTube video posts.

SOCIAL NETWORKS

Save the best for last. For me, social networking websites Twitter and Facebook are the best market place for your music. People on these networks just love to share videos and photos. So if you have good music going, then for sure it will be shared, especially if you were able to tap some influencers with a lot of Twitter followers or Facebook friends and fans. Besides, it’s easy to share your music videos on these channels because they make it naturally easier to cross-share content.

If YouTube holds the key for your stardom or fame make sure to fully take advantage online tools available for you. Start with the above-mentioned channels.

Myspace Announces Big Plans for Redesign Seen On Sneak Peek

Myspace, the social network fraught with trial and errors over the years has yet again shown the online world that it can survive amid Facebook era reigning supreme. Taking out all the jargon crap, this simply means Myspace is again trying another redesign hoping to compete against Facebook, the so-called giant social networking website of this generation.
It might come as a surprise that I know this when I am not a Myspace user (I might have signed up for account but that’s it). So how do I know about this? Through Twitter and Facebook of course, where else? Getting Twitter followers or Facebook fans isn’t my only one true hobby you know, I do read your posts (if they are interesting enough).

So there it was the news, quite 20 hours ago or so, the big headline “Myspace Unveils Plans for Massive Redesign” on Fox News shared by one of my Twitter followers. I tried to verify it, and it was not hoax, Myspace indeed is undergoing redesign.

Myspace History of Redesign

2010 – Social Entertainment Site

Myspace this time was obviously attempting to regain its audience with the lure of entertainment intended for the tech-savvy Generation Y. But it was a massive failure when most of its loyal user base turns a deaf ear. It didn’t help that the people they are targeting merely ignored the redesign and its promise of entertainment.

2011 - #1 Online Community Music Destination

In 2011, Myspace, after obviously losing its shine when Facebook started to take over, has already decided to take the most advantageous course for its site, which is to focus on the music industry. Everyone knows how Myspace has always reveled when it comes to music, especially having major music labels support it with their strict compliance to copyright.

2012 – 2 Minute Sneak Peek Video

What do you think? Will Myspace regain the glory it once lost to Facebook and Twitter? If I were to answer that, I’ll think about it and wait for its beta or launching date. For the meantime, I won’t let another Myspace promise to get in the way of getting more Twitter followers for me.

How about you? Did the Myspace redesign impress you?

How to Take Advantage of the New Twitter Cover [Header] Photo

All of us on Twitter might have noticed something new on the website. Well, the tweets are still there even those coming from the quite annoying ones. Nope, it’s not the number of following that you have painstakingly stalked to get Twitter followers. Actually, you won’t exactly see it directly on your account but it visible on others’ Twitter accounts. And that’s because they have immediately activated “it” after knowing about it.

What is this “it” I am talking about?

It’s the Facebook-like header photo on Twitter. Yup, it’s true. Unbelievable isn’t it? It’s like Twitter to poke a fight with Facebook on patents, copyright or what techie businesspeople call it. Remember how Apple sued Samsung for some features they claimed to be copied by the latter company? I don’t really know if that applies with these free social networking websites.

However that works, only one thing is for sure – people are going to make the most out of this Twitter header photo, if we can call it that (without getting sued—actually Twitter calls it Header Photo).

Anyways, I have here guide on how to take full advantage of this new Twitter feature that will get more Twitter followers for you if done right.

Create custom image/photo

One thing that people on Twitter usually do that marks them as failures is the way they use free pre-made images online or simply using Twitter header themes for that matter. What’s wrong with these people? Don’t they know that being unique and setting yourself apart from others will give more attention to their Twitter handle? Keep this is mind, “there is no room for mediocrity on Twitter,” not with millions of users want the same fame and recognition for their own expertise.

Upload an attractive profile picture

If you have activated your Twitter header photo, you will see how your profile picture became the center-piece, literally and point-blank the focus of all eyes that visit your Twitter page. So what do you do? Awaken your creative side and think of a beautiful concept that can either create a perfect contrast or perfect symmetry and blending of your header photo and profile picture.

Take a look at how Ryan Seacrest of American Idol did his. (See image below)

See what I mean? Ryan Seacrest was able to create a perfect blend of his profile picture and header photo. Doesn’t it look so much like Facebook cover photo? You bet, it does.

Improve your profile bio

It’s not only your Twitter profile picture that has been given the chance to be the center of attention but also your Twitter profile bio as well. Yes, I am talking about your description, location, Twitter username and website/blog URL. So if I were you, make sure that you go and improve all of them, most especially the description.

Twitter has gone and done something risky with this so-called header photo. Users have yet to voice any strong opinions against it but still, we are all ears. We don’t want to ride on a trend that is not really popular with the masses, do we?

3 Effective Ways to Connect with YouTube Influencers

Following-YouTube-influencers

Are you lacking the views that you think your YouTube video deserves? You are not the only one. Out of the billions of YouTube videos uploaded daily on the website only a few get lucky enough to catch the attention of millions of its visitors. Some videos get lucky while other videos reflect huge numbers of views after owners buy YouTube views from some third party website.

However, there are those who get thousands of views on each of their uploads. They are the so called “YouTube influencers” who you should be buddies with. One endorsement from them and you will get yourself scores of subscribers and of course views. Now that you are aware of that, you can start buddying up to convince them to help you get YouTube views.

Search Their Blogs and Engage Them

Almost all YouTube influencers have blogs where they can archive their videos and write something about them such as what inspires them to do it or why it is helpful to their audience. So all you have to do is search them out. You can either find the URL to their blogs on their YouTube channel or perhaps on their social profiles.

After you locate their blogs, find time to read their vlogs or video blogs so you can create a meaningful feedback on the comment section which will catch their attention and invite their interest. If you fail the first time try again and again until they will see that you are a valuable audience or a loyal follower of their videos.

Do Video Reviews on Your Own Blog

Well, I am hoping you do have a blog. If you don’t, then perhaps it’s time you do. Having a blog is crucial especially when you really want to get appreciated by these YouTube influencers. Why? It’s because it will allow you to write reviews on videos owned by them. Make sure that they are all positive though. You don’t want to ruin your chances just because you were too honest or ignorant.

There are two ways to go about a video review. The first one is to shoot a video about it. The second one is to write about it on your blog and embed the video there. How will they know that you did a video review? Oh, these influencers do know how to keep track of their views and traffic through YouTube insights or the so called analytic tool of YouTube. For sure your URL will find its way to them if not you just have to be courageous and tell them about it. Although you have to worry about appearing to be deliberately trying to win their favor, it’s worth a try.

Work With Other YouTube Users with the Same Goal

If for weeks you have not made an impression to these influencers, there is one other way to get under their good graces right under their noses. That’s quite a lot of under. Well, I think it’s a suitable way of saying it since you are not really directly engaging the influencers but the people who are also vying for their endorsement. Start working with them. First you can post video responses or plain comments to their videos and then message them about your interest. In times like this, you are not competitors but collaborators.

Do you think Buying Twitter Followers is a Scam?

Here I go again. I just can’t seem to get a grip and leave the Twitter issue alone. Can you imagine websites going round and round on how buying Twitter followers is nothing but a cheap scam? Well, that is half true. It is cheap but it is surely not a scam.

Credibility in Numbers

Are you familiar with the power of persuasion? The traditional marketing makes use of the tongue and veiled words of assurance we call sales talk. But with the digital age fast evolving, the tongue no longer has that power to persuade people to buy. It’s the power of numbers now.

Can you imagine a business’ Twitter account tweeting about how they are the best and the leading product in the market yet has only a hundred followers? What would people make of that? They will assume that what they are saying are lies, nothing more.

It’s Cheap Marketing Tactic

Of course it is cheap. It will only cost you a few bucks to have a thousand following. Unlike when you labor weeks, months and years of following and unfollowing people who you think will be interested on what you can offer, which is expensive in the long run, buying Twitter followers, makes it easy and fast for you.

After you buy Twitter followers then you can determine whether the followers you acquired can be converted as buyers or not. Besides, when you can’t get them to buy from you, I’m sure a percentage of their followers will.

Buying Followers is a Choice

You bet it is. When Forbes, Fast Company, New York Times and other reputable news sites talk about buying Twitter followers, they make it out as if the people were scammed and forced to purchase those followers. Well, they are wrong. People buy followers because they want to. They need the fastest route to earn money, credibility, popularity and so on.

Think of it this way, SEO has white hat and black hat, even a gray hat, so is social media marketing. The only difference is that SEO is more complicated and you have to consider search engines’ satisfaction, whereas buying followers, fans and views for social media marketing will only require you to please the people.

Reason Why People Buy Twitter Followers

Before you judge, do you know why people resort to this type of marketing strategy? It’s because big corporations have already monopolized the market in the offline world. Will they be given free rein to monopolize the online market as well?

Well, if I were a marketer, I would say “hell no!” This is my chance to create a name for myself which was impossible where it not for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social networks. Why would I waste this chance? Why would I pass up a chance to be popular and be eventually recognize for all my worth?

Buying Twitter followers sure has its downside, but people knew that already before they decided to make a purchase. So how can they say that it is a scam at all? It might be underhanded but it sure is legal.

Obama Has Fake Followers – Can We Blame Him?

U.S President Barrack Obama is the champion of the American youth. Who didn’t know him on social network? No one, you bet on that. He was the first ever U.S President who used the influence of social networking websites as one of his resources during his presidential campaign.

Now they tell us, most of his Twitter followers are fakes? That can’t be, because dummies, bots or whatever you call those faker accounts can’t really vote. So what is this about Obama having fake followers?

According to a London-based social media marketing company, StatusPeople, 70% of Barrack Obama’s followers are fake profiles. The tool or app used is called Fake Follower Check. It’s an application that gets a sample of an account holder’s followers and tests it for fake, inactive and real followers. Apparently, the U.S President and his more than 19 million Twitter followers did not go unnoticed.

How the app did it?

Find out from this statement from Rob Waller, one of the founders of StatusPeople.

“Fake accounts tend to follow a lot of people but have few followers. We then combine that with a few other metrics to confirm the account is fake.”

Is that it? What if I am just a friendly person who wants to follow a lot of people? It’s hardly my fault if less than half of the people I followed return the favor. Does that make my profile account fake and me as well?

Is Obama to blame?

“From our initial analysis of this issue the more followers you have the more likely you are to attract fake or inactive accounts. The reasons for this obviously need some research. But from the data we collect over 30% of those accounts with 500,000 followers or more return a poor score from our App, whereas less than 1% of those with 5,000 followers or less, the majority of Twitter users, generates an equivalent score,” Waller states.

Based on what Waller wrote, it seems like high profile people such as Obama, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and others like them, who have an initially bloated follower count because of their offline popularity, are most likely prey to Twitter spammers.

So the answer to the question is a big NO. And no, Obama did not also buy Twitter followers, although we really have no way of knowing that for certain.

Popular personalities with fake Twitter followers [credits to Fast Company]

Lady Gaga (28,355,129 followers): 43% fake, 34% inactive

Justin Bieber (26,582,874 followers): 31% fake, 33% inactive

Cristiano Ronaldo (12,367,632 followers): 52% fake, 32% inactive

Kanye West (8,293,114 followers): 36% fake, 34% inactive

Snooki (5,424,072 followers): 17% fake, 40% inactive

Perez Hilton (5,401,665 followers): 17% fake, 50% inactive

Jack Dorsey (2,086,805 followers): 15% fake, 40% inactive

Biz Stone (1,946,554 followers): 16%, 54% inactive

Mindy Kaling (1,821,893 followers): 23% fake, 42% inactive

Fred Wilson (227,241 followers): 8% fake, 30% inactive

Eric Ripert (92,897 followers): 11% fake, 41% inactive

Caterina Fake (73,835 followers): 5% fake, 33% inactive

Eric Ries (67,194 followers): 5% fake, 21% inactive

Anthony de Rosa (33,770 followers): 6% fake, 32% inactive

Simply put, celebrities are a magnet for bots since they are easy to find and they give these bot accounts credibility. Besides, if you care to notice it, when you first sign up for Twitter, didn’t Twitter recommend these people on their “Who To Follow” section?

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with buying Twitter followers. Anyway, there are other worst ways that marketers take the short-cut.

Curiosity Rover, NASA Mohawk Guy Got Skyrocketing Followers

Last week, we heard about how the Curiosity Rover successfully landed in the red planet, Mars. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) launched the MSL mission or the Mars Science Laboratory with high hopes on the Curiosity Rover bringing good news about Mars being a habitable place for humans and other living things.

Alas! The Curiosity Rover that was sent off on November 26, 2011 has finally landed on August 6, 2012. That is approximately nine months of traveling in space. According to NASA, the spacecraft landed on Gale Crater of the planet and will start its mission of looking for signs of life. Future missions on Mars will depend on the success of the MSL mission.

Mohawk Guy Steals the Show

Despite the online buzz that the Curiosity Rover created, a particular distinguishable man in the NASA team has gone viral. The guy has been labeled on the internet as the Mohawk Guy because of his hairstyle. He was noticed by people who watched the live streaming and TV coverage of the Curiosity Rover landing on Mars. What more? After minutes of the said coverage, the online community was quick to grab the guy’s Twitter handle @tweetsooutloud. Know what happened next? The Mohawk guy was able to get Twitter followers in thousands. Currently his Twitter account has over 50,000 followers. Imagine the guy only had 200 followers to boast. Now he has more than tripled his following, just because he stood out among the other NASA staff on that Curiosity Rover.

Who is the Guy with the Mohawk?

The name my dear friends is Bobak Ferdowsi, the flight director of the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Mission. Can’t imagine a man holding such esteemed position for nine years and a team member in one of the most notable NASA missions is someone with a Mohawk hairstyle with red highlights and yellow stars on the right side of his head.

Becoming an internet sensation in a few hours has overwhelmed this Mohawk flight director. The 32-year old Mohawk guy had a chance to post a tweet saying, “Internet, you win this round. I’ll be back later, but thanks so much. Now going to celebrate with all my friends and team! #msl.”

Notice the hash tag #MSL? That is the official hash tag to use when Twitter users will be referring to the Curiosity Rover and the NASA team on Mars, particularly, Bobak Ferdowsi.

Obama Calls Curiosity Team

Obviously, it’s not only the internet community who are tuning in to the Curiosity Rover team on Mars. U.S. President Barack Obama, an avid online and social media user himself, called the Curiosity team over the phone while he was aboard Air Force One during a flight to Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, August 13, 2012.

See official photo by the White House, by Pete Souza.

The President on the phone told the flight control team of NASA Curiosity Mars:

“You made us all proud. What you’ve accomplished embodied the American Spirit. Our expectations is that Curiosity is going to be telling us things we did not know before and laying the groundwork for an even more audacious undertaking in the future, and that’s a human mission to Mars, ” quote taken from http://www.nasa.gov official website.

No doubt about it, not only the world but also the Twitterverse will be hearing about the mission. You only have to watch out tweets from the Mohawk Guy.
