What To Do If You Don’t Want A 9–5 Job

At 7 am, you wake-up and turn off the annoying alarm out of your phone. You fix the bed, play with Charlie (i’m thinking that was your pet’s name), and prepare each breakfast.

To your surprise, it’s already 8 am in the morning, and you remember that it takes about 30 minutes to an hour going to your office, and you still have lots of things to prepare. So you eat your breakfast hurriedly, take a short bath, get dressed, and drive your way to the office.

You do this everyday for the last couple of years. Everything seems to be a routine that’s why you keep asking yourself, “I didn’t sign-up for this”. Well, basically you did, but you did not expect this kind of lifestyle back when you were in college, weren’t you??

Is there really no way of changing that? Or there is?

Are there Better Options ?

You can’t wait ’till weekend just to finally lay down your bed, and have that good night sleep. The Weekend (not the musician) is your comfort zone! But still, your boss can call you anytime they want, and ask you to work on immediate tasks. So even when there’s a day-off, it doesn’t feel like it.

Brave and Smart Millennials know what they’re capable of, and they’re not afraid to take risks. This is why others choose to switch to a different path whether in terms of freelancing or being a Solopreneur.

As of 2019, 35% of former employees have now switched to freelancing careers. And the percentage of those who went off and built their own business doesn’t go far.

Work from home

But the transition from an employee to a business owner is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Surely, you can say, “I quit! I want to build my own company”, anytime! But how can you put these words into action?

Can You Really Ditch Your 9 to 5 Grind Without Feeling Helpless?

To answer you shortly, yes! But how? Before anything else, you’ve got to have a steady source of income that would suffice the needs of your expenses whether it is for maintaining your brand new business or by simply paying the bills.

This may mean that you need to stay at your company for a little bit longer before making a big career change. Moreover, you need to set a goal, plan ahead, and be financially, physically, emotionally, and mentally ready!

Meaning to say, avoid being desperate since that’s the time that you do the stupidest things ever! You’re going to cling on to clients that you don’t want to work with because you can potentially earn an income to pay the bills.

Not because you choose to, but simply because you don’t have a choice. So create a timetable and realistic finances calculation. If your freelancing gig doesn’t work, how can you pitch in more clients, and earn from it without being pressured by the next pay date?

If you thought of creating your own business, what are the odds that it can reach success after a few months of launching it?

Take your time, and be realistic. Maybe, you don’t have to resign right away. Maybe it’s better if you could just cut off a little more time in your work. Probably, not spend too much time on a single task or multitask so you can still use your extra time for something big that you’re planning.

But most importantly, the number key in Business and Freelancers success is learning to acquire profitable, loyal customers before you run out of cash! So what do you say, can you put an end to your misery, and start aiming for a goal and plan according to your pace?

You’d later realize that it brings much joy, more satisfaction, and much worthy!
