Is New York the Next Detroit?

We’ve had several people ask questions surrounding the relationship between Detroit City and New York City. Today Detroit ranks as one of the poorest states in America. Not only does the state suffer from poverty, but it also suffers from other threads of social violence such as corruption, conflicts, violence, and theft. To effectively understand the relationship between Detroit and New York, we have to dissect the phases of development and lead to Detroit’s current state.

We will also be looking at the mistakes and similar trades New York is currently experiencing related to Detroit’s.

Where It All Starts

The city was founded by a French national named the city after the river “Detroit,” meaning “straight.” After its Discovery, a long and dreadful were introduced, its liberation from the French colonies, and reinstated American control.

In 1900 Detroit was known as a motor capital with big names such as Ford-based there and. The population of the city rose from 205000 in 1890 to 1.8 million in 1980.

An article released in 2019 listed 30 places in America with an increasing poverty rate included Detroit. In the article, Brooklyn held the number one position. A publication released by CBS News 3 months ago on the top dangerous cities surprisingly had Detroit on the top of its list. This development seemed so shocking and unbelievable at first, but we get a better understanding when we look at the figures and current trends.

Detroit city of America

Detroit’s population happens to have increased at a rapid rate, giving room for several shortages in the supply of essential services, amenities, and proper government attention. The city suffered from hikes in unemployment rates, forcing many energetic and vibrant individuals into several social vices.

If we look at Detroit’s employment structure, we would understand that the city had more government officials than non-government officials. The implication of this was that more officials were being catered for and employed on the masses’ taxes. We also detected a sporadic fall in the municipal working force. With all these lapses, it was evident that the crime rate was bound to hit its high.

Crippled Political Structure

If we are sincere with ourselves, we would understand the plight of this once glorious city. We mentioned earlier that part of the problems Detroit experienced was a failure in government structure. The city had a lot of dysfunctional projects and uncompleted facilities. We had street lights, buildings, facilities, and other structures which were essentially either incomplete or left abandoned.

The city launched itself into serious debts amounting to 14.9 billion dollars. Due to his inability to meet up with the demands of payments, the city became largely reluctant in relinquishing its dept. With time, the debts kept on accumulating until it was practically impossible to clear off everything. At this point, Detroit had run into a severe deficit.

Crime Rate

The rise in population was accompanied by a 90% drop in the working population. Answered 1960 Detroit was recognized as the wealthiest city in the world. The series of events that led to the reduction in the active people were racial riots. Each of these riots brought the working population crumbling down to its knees.

We would later see a 1:10 ratio between working and those not working. As riots continued, several police confrontations heightened. The interplay of these events simultaneously leads to a higher redundancy of the police force.

Crimes were on the increase and kept so much that seven out of ten crimes would appear unsolved. With this new trade, it was difficult for law and order to be restored to the city.

So let’s look briefly at the decline in New York’s economic and social structure.

New York

It is surprising to note that about three hundred thousand high-income-earning residents have fled from York and changed their address. The statistics show that something is wrong with either the housing structure or political atmosphere. How come so many people are leaving New York for low tax-paying States?

The NYPD released an article last year, showing a 97% increase in shooting activities and New York. All devices such as mothers increased by 44%. Burgery, car theft, and gun arrest were also on the increase. Do we see a similarity between the Detroit system’s delimitation and what is currently happening in New York?

When we take a look at the most expensive cities in America, we understand that man hunting stands above all others on the list. If we go a little deep, who discovered New York as the tent will displace America. This figure was released some years ago, indicating the accumulation of several revenue-generating businesses and enterprises. The departure of these businessmen and their companies has introduced a big blow to the economy.

It is estimated that about 300 billion dollars have been lost with the exit of wealthy citizens from the city. All of these activities had been ongoing even before the covid-19 pandemic. When asked why leaving the city, some individuals mentioned freedom taxes and desire to be left alone.

City of New York in America

These reasons might seem legitimate life is but a little careful analysis would reveal otherwise. Simultaneously, in Detroit’s progression, it was first taught as a fantastic economy with beautiful landscapes and robust revenue creation systems. The destruction of the system came with the introduction or of political voices.

These political voices introduced a lot of divisions that crumbled the Detroit economy. Any luck today; a similar process is being repeated. Has there been a sharp disagreement between private investors and government officials?

Policies have been created that have threatened high-income businesses and revenue generators. The only way to tackle the dilapidation of the economic and social structure of New York and save it from getting creepy like the church is by having a sharp opposition against political voices and policies.

The rich and wealthy politicians have the same job creators and employees as a significant threat, introducing disunity and destruction in the entire system.

Detroit has many similarities with New York, and we have seen how a sequential crisis had turned a once glorious City into ruins and a shadow of itself.

New York is currently getting into that face, and the only solution is by having a conducive environment for private investors’ operation. A lot needs to be done to bridge the disparity between top political officials and entrepreneurs.
