Do Good Grades Matter ?

“Your grades don’t define you.”  You might come to think of it, and use it as your mantra, but some students misused its meaning as an excuse. They’re too busy thinking that they don’t need to strive for better grades, and much worst is the thinking they don’t need to at least try to do well in school.

Students are fully acquainted with the fact that learning in school is essential, but also comes the weight of grades that sometimes bring them down. Therefore many have questioned, is it really important to have good grades?

Why is it Important to Learn in School

It seems like our future is already written to spend part earlier stage of our lives through kindergarten, then college after.

Good for you if you can easily adjust with the school work, and interested in keeping up with learning. But for others, they gradually become dissatisfied and struggle on every given task at school. Whatever it may be, knowledge will be forced upon you.

Then why is it important to learn in school

Understandably because school provides an environment where we can learn the basic skills. Formal learning is typically divided into several educational stages covering early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, and tertiary (or higher) education. Within these years, we study different subjects that include literature, math, history, physics, and many more.

The abundance of knowledge and information that you will get in school can play a significant role in your memory, and in your quest to achieve your dreams in life.

Why is it important to Have Good Grades

Good grades are important to get you into the path you wanted. It means if you’re planning to take up Engineering, then most likely, you need to set high standards for your mathematics subjects. Right?

But up to what extent do good grades matter? You might not want to throw all the hard work your parents had to go through just to put you in a formal school that will give you a quality education. Seeing their disappointment, and dissatisfied reactions may bring out your guilt.

On the contrary, doing well in school and striving for good grades won’t put them in such downgrading situations. Most importantly, good grades won’t bring your parents down. In fact, you are going to make them proud.

Good grades can help you enter a better college of your choice. Most of the competent colleges require a good high school GPA before you can get in, and study your preferred course, so when you continuously strive for good grades and have a good GPA, the key is in your hand.

With limited spots available for thousands of applicants, a grade criterion is a natural selection process determining who gets a chance. The advantage of entering into a competent university is the fact that it may lead you to better opportunities in the future.

It will benefit your future career. Good grades signal an ability to learn, and that is one of many qualities employers are looking for. Some employers undoubtedly look if the college you’ve been to caters above quality education. It would lead to your points of getting hired.

Performing well in school is also a way of proving to you, to your teachers, to the society, and to the future potential employers that you are capable of performing tasks efficiently and the completion without needing a lot of supervision.

Getting good grades indeed requires maximum effort, and doing this will help you strive for anything that is set before you, such as your scholarship. Reality speaking, tuition fees in an elite academic college, and other fees can be expensive, so this can serve as a big financial help through your college years. An academic scholarship will help you cover the costs. Aside from these, it would also help you boost your confidence.

Since you spend a lot of your time in school, a lot of your self-worth will be centered on how well you do in class, your school social life, and your performance in extracurricular activities. The better your grades are, the higher your sense of self-worth.

If you are willing to give all your best for anything in this matter, you’d see that the better you become, the more your confidence will grow!

Are Good Grades a Measure of Success

In the real world, grades matter, to the extent that it will help you enter a better academic college. Academic success at a top university guarantees a well-paying, highly respected job.
Well-paying jobs grant the necessary outcomes of success, including a big house, exotic vacations, societal status, large bank accounts, and many more luxuries of life. However, grades can’t show every amazing quality you have.

But despite every advantage that good grades can give you, it’s still won’t measure a person’s emotional intelligence. It does not measure your leadership ability, so does your ability to think outside the box, and solve problems.

Good grades signal the ability to learn, but success requires so much more!

The primary purpose of getting an education is for us to learn. Having straight A’s is ideal, but remember that in the grand scheme of life, we are all going to fail sometimes.

Instead, I recommend you to think of the grades as a significance on how much you tried. As long as you genuinely tried to the best of your ability, whether you passed or not, then you can look at your grades, and be okay with it.

Education is not about getting a particular grade or a number on your transcript; it’s about making positive steps every day. No matter how tiny they may be. There’s so much more to life than academic achievements. Real lessons come from the struggle, so keep struggling, striving, and the success will be so much richer!
