Unabridged True Story of Affiliate Marketing
To be honest, I have no single idea about what affiliate marketing is before trying my luck in this field. I’ve read stories, listened to tales, and watched videos, yet certain terms and information are too hard for me to grasp, and so I decided not to push it.
The only thing I understood was I would earn commissions for promotion or advertisement of another service and company. Aside from that? I had a really hard time understanding.
Now, I grasped the idea of affiliate marketing.
Let me share it with you on easy terms.
For example, you are running a coffee shop. Liz, one of your friends, visits and buys coffee from you regularly. Upon seeing that Liz is always coming to your shop, you offered her $1 for every person she brings.
After a month, Liz brought 80 customers to your shop, and in return, you’re supposed to give her $80. Through the connection and effort of Liz, you got extra 100 customers, which you benefited from.
This is how affiliate marketing works.
Essentially, affiliates will perform online marketing on behalf of a seller, and the goal of the affiliate’s online marketing is to drive and convert customers to your website. Every time someone visits the merchant’s website through you, you will get paid if they buy a product or service.
Affiliate marketers get a payment on a predefined basis— could be from Pay-Per-Click whenever a customer clicks on the link or from Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA) whenever the customer buys a product.
It’s very simple, right?
There are several ways you can use it for advertising on behalf of other brands and businesses. You could use product links, videos, reviews, blogs, ads, and more.
In a Nutshell…
Affiliate marketing works in 5 steps:
- Choose a niche
- Join an affiliate program
- Promote products/services/offers
- Optimize and track conversions
- Receive commissions
Though this seems simple to understand, this is complex to those who haven’t had experience in this field before, especially if we elaborate it one by one. If you are having a hard time comprehending the model of affiliate marketing, you can try using affiliate systems.
For beginners or those who can’t really grasp how affiliate marketing works, I would suggest using affiliate marketing systems in the market. This is what I did, and it helped me quite a lot on my journey.
The problem with choosing a system is the legitimacy.
I mean, they could claim they can help but are all affiliate systems in the market working the way it intends to work? Probably not.
Many people have tried looking at one or more affiliate marketing programs just to find out that several systems and training out there are scams. Some learned it the hard way, and it’s traumatizing.
It is hard to lose money, especially when you also exert extra time and energy with the hopes of getting something in return.
Luckily, the system I’ve heard from my friend really works and does wonders.
