How to Remember More and Learn Faster

What’s that one thing or body part that we use in order to think, to decide, and to learn? Indeed, our brains. Even you, the one reading this, used your brain to answer this most obvious question. So what’s up with our brains?

Wouldn’t you agree that the Brain is the Control Center of the Body? It affects all parts of the body, whether inner or outer. When you get wounded, your brain will process the emotions to make it feel painful. If you’re not aware of the wound, your brain wouldn’t process the necessary emotions as well.

The brain is not limited by a person’s thoughts and emotions. It can do much more. Even so, as to speak, we only a small portion of potential out of it; some people use it more efficiently than others.

Transcending – End the Trance!

We weren’t taught instead, we were taught a lie. We are made to believe that the amazing things we can do in life, our potential, memory, learning abilities are not just limited, but it’s fixed. If we tend to dig in about the world and the people who made changes with the cycle of life, the heroes as to what we consider and how they meet success, we know that the lies aren’t real. We were born to do something bigger, something great in life that what people expect us to do.

Just why do you think that experts and experienced ones are awe by the skills and talents that Millenials or even most youths nowadays show? It’s because the latter group was underestimated.

The media shows that we need to be fixed. If we did something terrible, they’d tend to look down on us as if we can no longer do anything well. They made us think that mistakes hold us back from doing something better. We are labeled as someone who is limited and sometimes, we also influenced ourselves to think the same. Yet are we?
The Skill that we need to possess

According to Jim Kwik, a Learning Expert and a Trainer, that one skill to master in the 21st Century is the “ability to learn faster.” If you could just spend an hour of reading instead of 2 or 3, you can save much time in a day, week, month, and even a year!

This does not refer to merely reading, but you need to comprehend what you’ve read! You have to improve the seconds you fixate or look at a word and to read silently as reading aloud can take up much more time. Of course, you have to improve concentration to avoid distractions.

Speed Reading may include:

• Reading several words in a single Glance unless you want to focus on a specific word, phrase or parts.
• Expanding your vision and using even your peripheral vision while understanding many words
• Picking up the whole context by reading very fast.

Learning Curve VS Forgetting Curve

Believe it or not, there is the worst way of taking notes. Can you guess what that is? It is writing in a verbatim way, a full-transcription, or word-per-word. Getting tons of information every single day would make it impossible to write and sort everything out. If we can forget simple things, what more than a 4-hour lecture?

Instead, follow the best way of taking notes, and that is to focus more on the key points and the relevant information. Capture information on your mind and create information as you write on those pages of your notebook. It is proven that when you specifically write about a topic in your own way, in your own understanding, you can retain much more information, and it would be more effective.

Writing notes also enforces you to ask questions. An efficient learner uses his or her time not just to take notes but to understand what was he or she is writing. There are times that they weren’t able to fully grasp the thought of the discussion; that’s why they would tend to ask questions to get a more precise answer. Questions are the answer, the essential.
