Stop Listening To Motivational Speakers

What if somebody tells you that you should’ve sacrificed sleeping time to work harder, all day long, and non-stop because that’s what most successful do to achieve their goals. Remember what millionaires do to get what they want?

What if you’ve watched a motivational video encourages you to quickly drop out of school, and start pursuing things you’re passionate about?  Not everyone can understand the situation we’re in. It’s easier for ‘Gurus’ or motivational speakers to speak on their behalf, instead of looking at the bigger picture. If these would make you successful, would you do it?

Just like what William Shakespeare said, “I have seen many unhappy kings, but many happy shoemakers”. What do I mean?

What Motivational Speakers Does?

When we want to achieve financial success or get motivated to get started, we typically recognize motivational speakers as highly inspiring individuals that can make a difference. There’s no doubt that these people inspire us to do something that they think would benefit everyone. Although they give encouraging messages, not all of them apply to each of us.

I’m not against these motivational speakers, but if they speak something based only on their personal lives or based on a person’s success in one field, what guarantee do they have to help you succeed as well?

As the saying goes, “no one-size-fits-all solution.” Meaning to say, one solution is not gonna be the same for other people. To “each of his own” is rather the proper word. Most of them advise people to just go on and do what they want to do! But what if you hurt people in the process? What if you won’t make it?

What if it means you have to sacrifice a lot of things to climb the ladder of success? Some of these so-called ‘gurus’ even advised people to lessen their sleeping time or avoid spending time doing essential things in life because they’re just going to waste their time instead of setting it aside for the hours of hustle that can bring them money.

Zig Ziglar, an American author, said: “Everybody knows money won’t make them happy, but everybody wants to find out for themselves.” This is why viewers always tend to believe what motivational speakers say. It’s because “they want to find out for themselves.”

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with being financially secure or achieving your life goals. But if money gets you, if money becomes your God, that when the problem starts to arise.

Life’s Too Short

Suppose you keep listening to these people who don’t personally know you or what you’ve been through. In that case, you’re going to miss a lot of chances, events, or occasions in your life just because you followed their encouragement to “Do this or Do that” without minding other people.

No successful person in their golden age would tell you that “Man, I should’ve spent more time in the office?, “I wish I should’ve stayed more with my employers or employees” or “I should have grinded some more”. Because guess what? They missed a lot of things in their lives. More than that, they had sacrificed their family, friends, and even health conditions just because they went down the wrong path.

If successful people in the graveyard were alive today, I bet they would do anything just to get one more chance. A chance that they had, but they let went when they were still alive. But right now, you have this “chance” to make up for something. Would you wait for the day that you’ve sacrificed important people or essential aspects of your life just so you can afford everything that you want?

Who would you spend that money for if you no longer have a family? Who would you go travel with and talk about life when you have no friends? Enjoy the little things in mind, whether that’s going out for a walk as you feel the air breeze outside or binge-watching your favorite comedy tv show. Don’t let these motivational gurus guilt trip you into doing something that you genuinely enjoy.

Take things one at a time, Slow down!

Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Don’t get too pressured to achieve something in a short period. In the end, your goals could hopefully come in its place and flow with your life.

Don’t be a fool, and start to realize things at the moment that you no longer have the most important things and people in life. If you’re going to define success, then the question is, why are you doing all of these? What does success mean to you?
